#3 December 2018
We've been busy adding talks:
The State of Data Center Energy Use with Anne Currie
Estimates currently place data centres at the same level as aviation in terms of carbon emissions. What can we do about it? This talk takes a look at the simple, pragmatic steps that every developer can take to adopt greener hosting for their applications. Check out the whitepaper and sign the petition for sustainable servers.
What Do People Really Want When It Comes To Sustainability? with Seyi Fabodi
Most presentations share the presenters take on the needs and experiences of the customer, as it relates to sustainability, but very few presentations use actual data from user responses. This talk will be based a “let’s hear it from the users mouth” survey of 5000 users (US based) to determine customer sentiment on the topic of tech/sustainability and what products/services are currently serving the needs identified.
Seyi is a returning speaker: check out his 2017 talk.
Priorities for Green Design with Jeremy Faludi
Jeremy wrote VentureWell’s Tools for Design and Sustainability, the OECD’s recommendations on green 3D printing policy, and co-authored Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute’s design for certification training.
Building for Sustainability with WordPress with Jack Lenox
Jack is a software engineer at Automattic and creator of Susty, the theme that delivers WordPress in just 6KB of data transfer. And it’s the theme we’re using for sustainableux.com.

Tickets are live: give + get

Give to Greenpeace: as well as all their other activism and programs, Greenpeace also publishes the essential Click Clean report on internet infrastructure sustainability.
Give to Trees for the Future: plants forest gardens in Sub-Saharan Africa, helping communities on the frontline of climate change build future resilience.
Give to Alliance for Climate Education: educates the next generation of environmental activists and funds U.S. school programs.
Don’t want to give to any of these? Email a donation receipt for a different climate-related cause and we’ll send you a ticket.
Last year we raised $10,000 and our goal is to raise even more this year! Give and get your ticket.
